Merlot

A warm berry-wine, burgundy shade with a neutral-warm undertone. It is neither overly cool nor fully warm, making it an ideal neutral-warm burgundy.

Best suited for

Neutral and warm color types

Merlot is especially harmonious on clients whose natural features have warm or neutral characteristics. Warm skin, hair, and eye tones pair beautifully with its soft berry-wine hue.

Warm Spring

Skin: Fair with peach or golden undertones.

Eyes: Green, brown, or amber.

Hair: Golden blonde, honey blonde, or warm chestnut.

 

Warm Autumn

Skin: Golden, olive, or peach-toned.

Eyes: Brown, olive, or hazel.

Hair: Chestnut, copper, or red.

 

Less suitable for

Strongly cool color types (Cool Summer and Winter).

If the client has a distinctly cool complexion with pink or bluish undertones, along with cool-toned hair and eyes, Merlot may appear slightly too warm or softened. In these cases, cooler wine shades with a stronger blue base are generally a better choice.
